I am against the sale of the Salem Transfer Station property by the City of Salem to Northside Carting or to any other entity whose objective is to handle municipal solid waste or any other kind of garbage at this facility. I am also against the expansion of this facility and believe that doing so would be a detriment to residents, visitors, and local businesses; causing any or all of the following: unnecessary and burdensome odors, pollution, noise, traffic congestion, property devaluation, and health risks that are not beneficial to our community. Therefore, I believe the transfer station should be closed and re-purposed; as our health, safety and property values are at risk. I believe there are alternative uses for this property that would better benefit our community.
